< In 1991 we had been in business at this location for 22 years. Having engaged in various businesses from landscape architecture to fertilizer manufacturing, our business declined after the rise of the SUPER STORE (i.e. Home Depot). So we where looking for something more to do. And then it happened… the light went on. We had al ready been collecting antiques for 10-15 years as a hobby. Every year my wife Carol and I would go to Yuma, AZ. For the San Diego Padres spring training games. Before and after the games we would go shopping for antiques. After years of this we became friends with the largest antique dealer in Yuma. We already had an empty building from one of our tenants moving out so we thought what the heck lets do it and bought our first 32 pieces of furniture and his 14' box truck to hall it all back to San Diego. Soon after we went into business we hired our first refinisher to restore some of the things we bought. In 1995 the California Transportation Dept. acquired by force two thirds or our pro perty for the new State Rt. 52. Thus pushing us into a smaller building more than 200 ft. off the road virtually putting us out of business for 5 years. We stored the extra furniture in a small storefront 8 miles away in Lakeside, CA. that store did almost no business. During our downtime we decided to build a 4000sqft. loft giving us almost 10,000sqft. total. This gave us the freedom to purchase at will with no fear of overstocking or having to squish to many things into one room. In 2000 the road construction was done and we where ready to show the world our store. We are now only 25-35ft. off the main road and are regarded as one of the most beautiful and well laid out antique furniture stores in Southern California. We pride ourselves on the quality and functionality of our furniture.
